Educators

U-Bora Education Services (U-BES) delivers effective learning experiences by utilizing the expertise of tutors, Education Support Interns (ESIs – high school students), and student candidates in teacher, early childhood education, and Child and Youth Worker programs.

Becoming a Tutor-volunteer

  • Practicing and retired teachers, university and college students, and graduates of post-secondary institutions are encouraged to serve their community by volunteering their time, their services, and their skills to support our students’ learning.

A modest stipend is made available to our Tutor-volunteers.

Becoming an Education Support Intern (ESI)

  • U-BES provides a space for highly motivated high school students to make a difference, learn and grow. Supporting students’ efforts is essential to student success. To ensure that students’ learning is effectively supported, U-BES works with a team of high school students who serve as Education Support Interns (ESIs).  ESIs reinforce tutors’ lessons by working with students to review and consolidate their tutors’ previously taught lessons. This process of tutor-first-ESI-second helps to guarantee deep learning and a readiness for new learning experiences.

  • High school students can apply to become an ESI by submitting to uboraedu@gmail.com, all four pages of their most recent report card, a cover letter that states, why they would like to serve students as an ESI along with the relevant skill sets that they will be bringing to the experience. Volunteer service hours to satisfy high school graduation requirements are available.

Teacher, Early Childhood Educator (ECE), and Child and Youth Worker (CYW)

  • Practice teaching for Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) candidates and field experiences for student candidates in early childhood education and child and youth worker programs are made available at U-Bora Education Services.

  • Apply for a teacher, ECE, or CYW field placement by first following the guidelines set out by your university or college. Once you are in full compliance with your institution’s guidelines, submit a resume and a cover letter to uboraedu@gmail.com.
